MEET THE PASTOR

Rev. Dr. David A. Williams

Senior Servant Leader

Dr. Williams is a native of Eastern North Carolina. Educated by the public schools of Kinston, Williams later earned a BA degree from East Carolina University, Greenville, NC and a Master of Divinity from Hood Theological Seminary, Salisbury, NC.  Currently, Williams is the pastor of Greater Gethsemane AME Zion Church.

 

Williams serves several Boards and Organization in the AME Zion Church such as: Co-Dean for the Piedmont Episcopal District Institute, & the Western North Carolina Conference CED Director. For more than 10 years he served as National Director of Youth Ministries, and locally he help to establish youth and young adult initiatives. Through his ministry tenure, pastor has seen continuous growth through outreach programs such as the National Day of Prayer held at the Downtown Rotary Pavilion, and the distribution of more than 1,000 Lenten Meditation Booklets.

 

As an Author, Williams has published several books over the years, most recently he has written, "Jacob Goes to Church, The Day After”, Birth it For the Kingdom, and The Joshua Generation Youth Workbook.  His most recent work is entitled, “Panic Button-Getting It Done Against the Odds.”

 

Musically, Williams continues to offer worship music for the edification of the body of Christ. In 2016 Pastor Williams released a gospel tune that everyone can sing entitled, “FREEDOM”. The song celebrates the importance of freedom for every human being in the world regardless of race, color, or religion. "Freedom" is not an option; “It is a MUST”. Williams is currently writing his dissertation in fulfillment of the Doctorate of Education-Leadership Curriculum Degree from the University of Phoenix.

 

Dr. Williams is married to Karen R. Williams and together they have two children Carrie-Ann and David II. and a beloved dog named Popcorn.
